The Island House began over 149 years ago as a waterfront beach house and is now a restored 100-room hotel today. Comfortable facilities and convenience are qualities you will come to expect as a guest at the Island House. Originally built in 1852, the Island House was the first summer hotel on Mackinac Island. The hotel is only minutes away from fine dining, shopping and entertainment venues. As a guest at this wonderful hotel you will be able to enjoy such activities and attractions including Carriage Tours, the Butterfly House, Arch Rock, Victorian Village and the Boardwalk.This family owned property is situated only 1 block away from the town on the water. As tourism grew, the hotel was moved in from the shore and expanded. By the 1890s, it was known as the Best Family Hotel on the Island. |
